Today at the United Nations climate change conference, COP26, IHRB convened leaders from across industries, government, and civil society to share perspectives and discuss the actions required to meet the global climate crisis in ways that enable workers and communities to thrive through the disruptive energy, technology, and societal transitions to come.

Convened by IHRB’s John Morrison, opening remarks were made by IHRB Patron and Chair of the Elders Mary Robinson, alongside Sharan Burrow (General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation), Bernard Looney (CEO of bp), Richard Lochhead (Scottish Government Minister for the Just Transition), and Maxine Burkett (Senior Advisor to the US Climate Envoy John Kerry).

These opening remarks are available to stream above.* Following the opening remarks, civil society and business leaders from across industries including renewables, extractives, retail, technology, and finance then participated in a private roundtable discussion to encourage open and honest dialogue about the challenges involved. The main takeaways will be published shortly in a written summary.
