Transition Tensions - Navigating Climate and Social Expectations
IHRB’s annual 'Circle of Innovators' dialogues address emerging dilemmas and opportunities in the field of business and human rights.
Transition Tensions - Navigating Climate and Social Expectations will focus on how businesses should best navigate immense pressure to deliver ambitious climate and social transitions.
Many companies committed to responsible action face increasing scrutiny, populist backlash, legislative changes, and reputational risks. The principles of human rights and sustainability that emphasise the responsibility of companies to address both environmental impact and social fairness remain essential, yet implementation is becoming more nuanced and difficult.
This private roundtable provides a confidential space for senior industry leaders to reflect on these tensions, share experiences, and explore practical strategies for advancing responsible leadership to achieve climate and social objectives that are mutually reinforcing.
The conversation will address the business and human rights pushback, and spotlight AI technology and insurance - two sectors with significant impacts on transitions.
This roundtable builds on an IHRB hosted discussion on ‘transition tensions’ held during London Climate Week earlier this year.
The meeting is in-person and invitation-only to foster confidential and open discussion between IHRB’s partners and supporters from companies, government, civil society, and academia.
