Justine Nolan

Justine Nolan is the Director of the Australian Human Rights Institute and a Professor in the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW Sydney. She has published widely on business and human rights and modern slavery and advises companies, NGOs and governments. Her forthcoming 2026 book (co-authored with Dorothee Baumann-Pauly and Andy Symington), Transforming Business: Aligning Profits with Human Rights, showcases real life case studies that demonstrates business can and should do better on human rights. She is a member of the Australian Government’s Modern Slavery Expert Advisory Group. Prior to joining UNSW, she practiced as a corporate lawyer and an international human rights lawyer in Australia and the USA. She is the Executive Editor of the Australian Journal of Human Rights.
