CEMS Business and Human Rights Training Courses

IHRB and the Rafto Foundation for Human Rights provide a 2-day Business and Human Rights training courses to Masters in Management students at a number of prestigious business schools in the global CEMS network - principally the Norwegian School of Economics, the London School of Economics, and Aalto University in Helsinki.
Since 2018, over 1000 CEMS students from over 30 countries have attended this course, which provides future leaders with an introduction to the relevance of human rights for business in the context of sustainability and ESG investing.
What students learn
Through case studies, interactive discussion and input from senior corporate and human rights practitioners, the CEMS students have the opportunity to consider from multiple perspectives - workers, employers, investors, unions, governments - the complexities of current challenges facing global companies at a time of political and economic uncertainty.
These include global fast fashion supply chains leading to labour rights abuses in Bangladesh, the impact of renewable energy projects on indigenous communities' land rights in Norway and Colombia, the impact of the rise in demand of critical minerals from the Democratic Republic of Congo for a global Just Transition, impacts of a company staying or leaving a country such as Myanmar or Russia in times of conflict, and more.
