Expertise

Marta is a human rights expert with experience in policy research, project management and advocacy in the areas of social and economic justice, business and human rights regulatory processes, and precarious labour conditions. She has also worked in projects on right to housing, right to the city and climate justice. She aims to work with committed stakeholders to prevent human rights violations from happening in businesses operations, and to build accountability.


Current work

In her role as the Europe Programme Manager for the Built Environment team, Marta oversees the programme’s daily operations. Her responsibilities include policy research and advocacy, and she works with a wide range of stakeholders to instil a socially just approach in built projects. Marta is deeply committed to cultivating a strong network that is geared towards bringing transformation in Europe's built environment.


Background

Prior to her role at IHRB, Marta has had a wide range of experience in the non-profit sector. She has been a human rights projects manager in Barcelona, performing policy research and advocacy on corporate accountability and public procurement. She has researched migrant’s health while being based in Rio de Janeiro, and she also has experience in working with human rights defenders. She holds a Research Masters in Sociology (UPF) and an LLM (UOC), and she graduated in Economics and Law in the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
