Job opportunities

Part-time: Consultant for Housing Conditionalities

The Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) is recruiting a part-time consultant based in Brussels to help shape the conditions attached to the EU’s biggest-ever housing investment.

The role sits within the Taskforce on Affordable and Sustainable Housing (TASH), co-founded by IHRB, The Shift and the Predistribution Initiative (PDI). TASH seeks to integrate human rights and climate considerations into housing investment and policy.

The consultant will be responsible for building support among investors and EU institutions for an ambitious set of conditionalities on EU and EIB housing finance.

This is a specialised role requiring:

  • 7+ years working on EU policy, sustainable finance, or housing finance, with a track record of influencing EU-level decisions
  • A working knowledge of how EU funding instruments are designed and agreed
  • Established relationships with real estate investors and the European Parliament, Commission and EIB.

Open call: Just Energy Transition (JET) Research, Strategy & Engagement Consultants

The Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) is building a pool of experienced consultants to support the closing phase of its Just Transitions Programme's work on Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) countries. We are looking to hear from thoughtful researchers, strategists and engagement practitioners with genuine depth in one or more JETP contexts - South Africa, Indonesia, and Senegal.

We are looking for people who can bring one or more of the following:

  • rigorous policy and systems research in a fast-moving field, particularly where justice/human rights issues and private sector/economic activity intersect;
  • strategic judgement on how to sequence and frame engagement with senior stakeholders across business, finance, government and civil society;
  • hands-on experience designing or facilitating convenings, dialogues, or other engagement formats;
  • strong, accessible writing for funder, policy and public audiences;
  • deep, credible relationships within one or more of the three JETP contexts

This is an open, rolling call rather than a single recruitment round with a fixed deadline. IHRB will reach out directly if and when a specific engagement is a strong match; we are not able to respond individually to every expression of interest.

Academic Placements

Opportunities may be available for students who receive academic credit or a stipend to undertake an academic placement with IHRB. Proposals should be sent to info [at] ihrb.org and must include the dates of availability, areas of work interest and available academic credit or stipend. IHRB is able to offer work experience rather than 'office experience' and welcomes proposals from students based across the world, who will be supervised remotely.

Internships

IHRB does not offer unpaid or ad hoc internships. Any remunerated internship positions will be advertised on this page where available. Please do not send speculative internship applications.
