Respecting Women Migrant Workers Rights: Guidance for Recruitment Agencies

16 May 2025

An estimated 70 million women are migrant workers, mostly from culturally and racially marginalised communities with a large majority in informal employment.

Despite making significant contributions to the global economy, in both their countries of origin and destination, women migrant workers continue to face disproportionate and unique challenges – making them more vulnerable to labour exploitation.

To mitigate the risk of exploitation at all stages of their recruitment and deployment journey, this new guidance: Respecting Women Migrant Workers’ Rights: Guidance For Recruitment Agencies offers practical recommendations for recruiters on how they can deliver efficient professional services to their clients and customers in ways that respect the rights of women.

The guidance is based on the Dhaka Principles for Migration with Dignity and IHRB’s extensive engagement and consultation with civil society organisations and recruitment agencies.
