Philip Goodswen is a co-founder of Ekur Advisors, a governance, risk and compliance consultancy. He is an English Solicitor and expert on international trade, commodities, supply chains, derivatives and financial services with over 20 years’ experience advising banks, energy companies, trade associations, commodity traders and government entities.

Philip was a member of the Swiss multi-stakeholder Advisory Group consulting on the drafting of Guidance on Implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights for the commodity trading sector and contributed to IHRB’s Taking Stock, Looking Ahead – Human Rights and the Commodity Trading Sector report in 2020.

He has worked for Hogan Lovells international law firm, ExxonMobil, Barclays Capital, Morgan Stanley and the UK Civil Service. Prior to co-founding Ekur, Philip was a senior lawyer at food and agriculture multinational Cargill, where he acted at various times for its petroleum, carbon, power, gas, coal, metals, shipping, grain, sugar, financial services and trade finance businesses.
