How do the places we live in right now affect our human rights? What do architects take into consideration to fulfill these rights and how do they impact us?

The webinar will elevate the human rights dimensions throughout the built environment lifecycle. From land acquisition, planning, policy, and finance, through design, construction, and use to re-development, outcomes are determined by the balance of power and responsibilities for decision-making.

The first part will bring a global overview, while the second part takes a deeper dive into the context in Egypt: highlighting challenges and recommendations for the path forward. Hosted by the American University in Cairo, the conversation will hone in on participation and non-discrimination, the social roles of architects and urban planners, workers’ rights, and the right to housing, among other aspects.

Register to join to hear insights from IHRB's Annabel Short and Yahia Shawkat (urban researcher) with moderation May Al-Ibrashy (architect) on Monday, 20 September at 7pm (Cairo Time).
