Hospitality represents a significant and growing industry in Qatar, with a concentration of major international hotel brands and a number of new hotel openings anticipated in the run-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In this context, the Qatar Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (ADLSA), the International Labour Organization (ILO) Project Office in Doha, and IHRB have been engaging with the hospitality sector to promote fair recruitment and employment standards in their business practices, and develop the necessary tools to support the hospitality sector.

"Promoting Fair Recruitment and Employment: Guidance Tool for Hotels in Qatar" has been developed in consultation with more than 40 hotels through a regular working group hosted by ADLSA, the ILO, and IHRB. The Guidance Tool provides sector-specific guidance for human resource managers and general managers of hotels to strengthen and implement internal policies and procedures; carry out due diligence of service providers and labour recruiters; and improve workplace relations through effective grievance handling and worker representation.

The Guidance Tool will be launched through a virtual event on Thursday 17th September at 3:00 pm (UTC/GMT +3) hosted by ADLSA together with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ILO, and IHRB.
