This Briefing explains the value that a human rights approach brings to addressing climate change. In particular, it highlights what a business and human rights approach (BHR) adds, grounded in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines on Multinational Enterprises.
The Briefing explores synergies in connecting the narratives and practices of the two fields, and identifies numerous ways in which the BHR and climate change agendas can reinforce important messages – such as the need to re-examine business models, that business responsibility extends beyond direct operations, and that longer-term, inter-generational perspectives should drive business strategies.
